Parent Resources

Chaparral is a neighborhood school that operates through the collaboration of parents and community partnerships. We are proud of the many programs we have to offer and welcome you!

The attached Parent/Student Handbook (in the sidebar on the left) contains most of the information your child needs to know to make him or her a responsible and successful student. Parent suggestions are always welcome. Chaparral students follow the pillars of Character Counts, and as a staff, we work to promote the pillars of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, citizenship, and caring.

Student Drop-off/Pickup Procedures
Students should be dropped off no earlier than 8:00 a.m., as there is no supervision available prior to that time, unless students are participating in our Books Before Breakfast Program.  The Books Before Breakfast Program begins at 7:00 a.m. in the library.  Students are supervised by a certified teacher for the cost of $1 per day.  No preregistration is necessary for participation in the books Before Breakfast Program.  Students should be picked up by 3:15 p.m. (1:45 p.m. on Early Release Wednesdays).  Parents should enter the school parking lot from 37th Dr., and follow the line of traffic to the curb.  Students should not load or unload unless a vehicle is at the curb.  Please be courteous of others and wait in line, pulling as far forward as possible when dropping off or picking up students.

Parent Involvement
Parents, we  welcome  your involvement. Please contact the front office at 602-896-5300 to learn about becoming involved with the Chaparral PTA or Site Council.

Visiting Campus
We welcome visitors to the campus.  Please arrange a time to visit with your child's teacher.  All visitors must sign in in the front office and receive a visitor's badge and sign out before leaving campus for their own safety and the safety of our students.
TAX CREDITS
Did you know you may receive up to a $400 tax credit on your State income taxes by contributing to one of Washington Elementary School District's extracurricular activity programs?
Click here for more information about available tax credits to support schools and students.
BOND PROJECTS
Chaparral Elementary recently received a fresh coat of exterior paint as  a part of the Capital Bond.  Other updates are in the works.  Please check back often to learn about new school projects that are upcoming.
